What to expect
It can be hard reaching out for support. Marie-Claire offers a free 15 minute telephone call to discuss how she might help and if she is the best fit for you. You can arrange an appointment via the ‘book consultation’ button on this website, or via email. Consultations are are for one hour online via telehealth or in person at the Greenbank Rooms, Glasgow.
When you first come along to meet a Clinical Psychologist in person, you might feel a little nervous and unsure. This is very normal. Marie-Claire will meet with you and take you (and if you are under 16, a parent/ carer) into the consulting room, which you can see in the photo here. Children over 10 will have the opportunity to speak on their own with Marie-Claire during that session if they wish.
Marie-Claire will want to hear about you and your life. She will want to know why you think that help is needed, what has been most distressing or challenging, and what your hopes might be in coming to see a clinical psychologist. It might be difficult to be open because you worry about not having the right answer, or saying the wrong thing, but please do not worry about this.
The plan made at the end of the assessment session is called a ‘formulation’, which helps explain our hypotheses about your difficulties, and the best treatment models to support with these.
